Bio

Researcher, musician, and programmer. David received the Margarita Salas grant in 2021 and is currently a postdoc in the division of Speech, Music, and Hearing at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology Stockholm, Sweden.  Researching in the domain of Music and Artificial Intelligence under the MUSAiC project directed by Bob L. T. Sturm. His project focuses on modeling harmonic trajectories by implementing natural language processing models such as GPT using western-music corpora of several songs in various styles.

David finished his Ph.D. at the Music Technology Group – Pompeu Fabra University through the project TELMI: A new project to create interactive, assistive, self-learning, and social-aware technologies for music learning. Mainly based on Machine Learning gesture recognition for musical applications.
He worked for two years at Specs Lab – Pompeu Fabra University programming the BrainX3: Interactive application as a visualization of the “connectome”, a human brain model of zone-to-zone connectivity.
He has a Master’s in Cognitive Systems and Interaction Media from Pompeu Fabra University.
David spent two years at Laboral Art Centre (Gijón-Spain) as a Production Centre manager and Technical Director, working with many well-known artists in interactive audiovisual media.
Worked for Open Lab Company (Rome -Italy) directed by Luca Ruzza as a programmer and artist. As well developed interactive visuals for the Norwegian company Mobile Homes (Olso.-Norway) directed by Zoe Christiansen.
Has participated in collaborative interactive projects for art centers such as Museo Picasso, Fundación Joan Miró, D-Hub Barcelona, CCCB, and Laboral Art Centre. He has been conducting workshops related to programming and interaction design in Iaac, Laboral Art Centre, Elisava, and Università Sapienza, among other institutions, for more than fifteen years.
