The Music Dimensions
The Music Dimensions is an interactive installation to create music with gestures implementing Artificial Intelligence. The installation consists of three screens, each in charge of a specific music layer; the first screen controls the density of the drums and is triggered by the amount of movement a camera detects. The second screen controls the harmonic wheel, which contains a set of chords that the visitor can select by making the gesture of rotating a wheel with the arms. The third screen triggers the melody, and the user can select freely what note of the available scale is played. The scale adapts to the chord selection of the second screen, as well the speed of the events is controlled by the rhythmic section. The scales are normally based on a pentatonic scale, but different pentatonic options are possible.
The interactive installation is a commission from CaixaForum, and it was developed during my first 6 months of Postdoc activity in the MTG, UPF Barcelona.
